Vice President, Clinical Oncology

Alan joined Astrazeneca in 1998 as Clinical Strategy Leader in Oncology moving to Global Product Director, Emerging Products before being made Worldwide Medical Director for the IRESSA KBT in 2003. In January 2005 he was appointed Clinical VP of Clinical Oncology/Infection TA.
Alan’s background is as a haematologist/oncologist having graduated from Oxford University in 1979 and the London Hospital Medical College in 1982. He has over 15 years experience working in international oncology and drug development in both biologicals and small molecules in two globally widespread, culturally diverse organisations, firstly Amgen, then AstraZeneca. This has involved multiple interactions with regulatory bodies such as the FDA, European Therapeutic Advisory Group, Australian, Canadian, Japanese and other national agencies.
