Behind the academic definition of Translational research lays one of the most promising routes to new cancer therapies. This rather new area of investigation takes root in the clear necessity to generate cross fertilization “at the patient’s bedside” downstream of research and medical applications and upstream of clinical observation and basic science. Albeit now widely recognize as vital, this concept is still in need of better scaffolding.
The Fondation Pierre-Gilles de Gennes has a commitment to incite collaboration between the academic community and the industry, and between different areas of knowledge to facilitate the transformation of new discoveries into technological breakthroughs in health science. Translational research is therefore a key centre of interest for the Fondation.
The Fondation Pierre-Gilles de Gennes is therefore pleased to invite you – scientists of differing backgrounds (physics, chemistry, biology and clinical research) to take part in the first PGG International Seminar dedicated to “Translational Research and Cancer”
A total of 8 conferences will take place from autumn 2008 to summer 2009 and will focus on 4 complementary aspects - clinical vision, imaging challenges, molecular biology & bioinformatics, and pharmacological developments – a broad translational approach to cancer therapy.
